Von Dickens Ulsa

Von Dickens Ulsa is a first-generation Filipino immigrant and a multimedia artist from Honolulu, HI. He is on a creative mission to exhibit decolonial and indigenous-themed artworks in all fifty states, and Texas is one of the last three in his list. For this submission, he is honoring the memory of his best friend who encouraged Von to pursue art – Kimberely “Kim” Norris. Kim was born and raised in Texas and met Von during their college days in University of Hawaii at Manoa. Von had always been shy and doubtful about sharing his art, but Kim unconditionally believed in his power to create and the impact of his art. Kim sadly passed away in 2015, which then led to Von launching OFVON as way to share his art and their messages to audiences all over the world. He is a practicing attorney for the housing team of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee, where he currently resides.
